Tru-Vue Viewer Viewers

First Generation Art Deco-style Viewers

These first textured Tru-Vue boxes are hard to find, but they do surface now and then. We have them in green and purple. No graphics, just the Tru-Vue name and their slogan “Pictures with Depth”. These would have come with the early, shiny faceplate Art Deco viewer, film in the very early Tru-Vue film boxes, and an instruction card.

Sawyer’s Tru-Vue

This tan & red box is a one-piece hinged box, similar to the boxes used for their Fred Harvey & National Park sets (see our Special Sets page). The box was designed to fit the viewer in the middle (with a cut-out for the advance lever) and three film boxes on each side.

This stamp on the top of this box indicates that it was the property of a military chaplain in 1948.

This box style can also be found in dark grey/red and silver foil and was frequently used for national park special sets.
