3Diland Stereopocket 3D Viewer

Italy, 1970s

This vintage 3D filmstrip viewer is a simple, lightweight plastic viewer that worked very similarly to the film cartridge cameras of that time period: put the film cartridge in the viewer and advance it using the slide lever on top of the viewer. The viewer does not have a rewind mechanism — the cartridge had to be taken out and rewound by hand using the provided handle on the cartridge. Stereo professionals considered the Stereopocket to be more of a toy than a serious 3D viewer because the optics and usability weren’t the greatest. The one shown below is model 101 which uses natural light. 3Diland also produced model 102 with battery-operated lighting.
