Demaria-LaPierre Stéréo-Project
France, 1900s
This rare viewer was designed for viewing stereoscopic projections. Created by the camera maker Demaria-LaPierre, the viewer is used in a similar manner as opera glasses, with the spectator positioned anywhere from 9.5 to 13 feet (3 to 4 meters) from the screen. If the person was to the left of the projector, it was recommended to hold the viewer with the logo on top and pointed to the left image in the projected stereo pair. If the person was to the right of the projector, the viewer should be held with the logo on the bottom and pointed at the right image.
