Stereo-rama Stereomax Stereo Viewer
Italy & France, 1950s
Long before View-Master made their horizontal viewers in the late 1990s, the Italian company Stereo-Rama patented this black plastic beauty in the late '50s. Manufactured in France by Offrimex, it was more compact than vertically-designed reel viewers and used mirrors inside to reflect the image. Design bonus: since light came in from the top, you didn't always have to be tilting your head back toward an overhead light source. And peep the handy thumb indent on the bottom! Today, this viewer is extremely rare. The company Stereo-Rama was previously called I.F.A.S. and later called Technofilm.
