Graf Zeppelin Stereo Viewer
Germany, 1930s
This black, sheet metal stereoscope was made by the Omniplast company. It’s one of two in our collection that promotes the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin. The design is the same as one of Omniplast’s self-branded viewers except it has the word “Zeppelin” embossed on the cardholder instead of “Omniplast.” It’s also the same design as Omniplast’s Awuco viewer.
The LZ 127 first flew on September 18, 1928, and the next year it flew around the world. Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH (Zeppelin Construction) produced the accompanying stereoviews.
Other Zeppelin viewers in our collection: LZ 126 “Los Angeles” | LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin
