Le Directoscope
France, 1910s
This irregularly shaped transposing stereo viewer, Le Directoscope, is made by the holder of the 1910 patent, Georges Balmitgére. It uses mirrors and oculars of differing focal lengths to view glass negatives and stereo Autochromes that haven't been reversed. So far, this is the only Directoscope I've seen that takes 6 x 13 cm slides. The other two I've seen take 4.5 x 10.7 cm slides. This one is missing the glass diffuser on the back.
