E. Leitz Votra Stereo Viewer
Germany, 1930s
This small and sleek metal filmstrip stereoscope was designed for viewing stereo photos taken with the Leica camera outfitted with the Stereoly attachment. We had a hard time believing it was from the 1930s — something about the design seems much more modern. Single stereo images could be inserted for viewing or an entire, uncut filmstrip could be inserted using the filmstrip adapter shown in the last photo. It has interocular adjustment capability and each eyepiece can be individually focused. We don’t yet have it in our collection but a stand — called the Votiv — was also available.
