Éditions Rolland Stéréoscope
France, 1920s
This 2-piece stereoscope is made of cardboard covered in black leatherette material with a plastic diffuser. Similar to other stereoscopes of this style, focusing is achieved by sliding the 2 pieces back and forth. It was manufactured by Mattey and introduced sometime around 1927. Rolland was a large publisher who registered La Stéréoscopie Universelle trademark and was one of the major WWI stereoview publishers. Here, it’s shown with a boxed set of scenic Sterollfilms stereoviews, also published by Rolland.
