Lewis-Page Box Stereoscope
United States, 1880s
The only markings on this stereoscope reference the patent dates for its two unique features:
July 5, 1870 — using lazy tongs to extend the lens board for focusing (E. K. Page’s 1870 patent #104,990)
March 26, 1878 — folding the stereoscope away into the card storage box (W. H. Lewis’ patent #201,804)
Both patent dates appear together on both components of the stereoscope, so we call this the Lewis-Page stereoscope.
