King Inn 3D Viewer
Taiwan, 1990s
We were pleased to add this King Inn 3D viewer — upgraded with Alan Lewis’ achromatic lens kit in the wooden lens board — to our collection almost exactly one year after we acquired the King Inn camera (shown farther down this page). Both the camera and viewer are part of the short-lived 3D system from Su Mond Industrial Corp. in Taipei. The King Inn viewer is equipped with a front and back light, both operated by the switch on the back and powered by 4 AA batteries or its power adapter. The viewer is designed for 6 x 6 (2 1/4" x 2 1/4") slides but also comes with a 2 x 2 full-frame 35mm slide adapter. The focus is adjustable but the interocular is fixed. Our viewer came with the logo-printed case, fabric on the outside, and velvet on the inside. Only a few of these cases were made by Q-VU, the company that imported the King Inn viewer to the U.S.
For all kinds of details and specs on the viewer, check out Solid Sight’s King Inn viewer page.
King Inn Stereo Camera
The rare King Inn stereo camera is the result of two Seagull cameras bound together. It had a short run but we think it looks pretty cool with its top-secret-looking carrying case.
