Idealoskop

Germany, 1910s

This collapsible stereosope is matte-black with a nickel-plated front and ground glass lenses. It was designed by ICA and came in a few different variations. It accommodates 45 x 107 cm glass and paper stereoviews — that format size was also referred to as “stereolettes” in the catalog. Note the small metal tabs around the lenses on the back of the lens board. Those were designed to hold interchangeble color discs that added a fun effect to the stereoview.
