Dutch State Mines (DSM) Stereo Viewer Set

Netherlands, 1960s (Viewer made in Hong Kong)

This vintage viewer gives us a 3D view of Dutch coal miners in the late ‘60s. The viewer was manufactured in Hong Kong and is almost an exact duplicate of the Hong Kong viewer used in the Kreative Color Lab set. DSM ran underground coal mines from 1902 until the early 1970s. The company name De Nederlandse Staatsmijnen translated to English as Dutch State Mines, hence the abbreviation DSM. The company still exists today and although it’s now a food and nutrition technology company, they’ve kept DSM as the company name.
