Stereoview Spotlight: Theater Children
Welcome to the first post in our new series, Stereoview Spotlight. We aren’t stereoview collectors so much of what you’ll see in this series are simply favorites that have made their way into our collection.
This first post features several images from a wonderful 16-stereoview set depicting children in dance and theatrical poses. The stereoviews came to us from the U.K. and are the 8.3 cm x 11.2 cm format that fits perfectly into the 1920s Stereo Indupor (aka, Camerascope) viewer. The children’s clothing and hairstyles seem to fit the 1920s period, also. We don’t have any other information on them — there’s nothing printed on the backs.
Who are the children and where are they? Was this before or after a school play at their regular school? Are they students at a special theater school or maybe young performers in a traveling show? Were the printed stereoviews intended for sale, advertisement, or simply for the children’s families? We welcome any insights or guesses you have!
