Dec ‘23 / Jan ‘24: What’s New in What’s Old

Personal use of stereoscopes has varied in popularity over the decades but certainly has stood the test of time. As a result, manufacturers continued to innovate on stereoscope design. This group of vintage stereoscopes spans a wide range of time: from the 1850s through the early- and mid-1900s to the 2000s. All the major materials are here: cardboard, cheap plastic, rugged plastic, metal, and wood. And, multiple stereoview formats are covered by this group: glass, paper, books, Realist format slides, 6x6 slides, 2x2x2 35mm slides, and multi-view cards. A few of these we’ve had in our collection for a few years but are just now adding to the website: the Amsterdam, Rada, and opera glass-style viewer, for example. A few others — the Clairvoyant, King Inn, and Romo Graf — have come in just recently.
