Jules Richard Verascope - Transposing Stereoscope

France, 1910s

The snail-like appearance of this transposing Verascope from Jules Richard prompted me to give it the nickname "Gary". Spongebob fans will understand. Tetrahedral and reflecting prisms behind the lenses produce lateral inversion that enables you to view images in 3D that haven't yet been transposed for 3D, such as autochromes or negatives. These viewers are pretty rare and this one takes larger slides than others I've seen.
