Kora Stereokora 35 Stereoscope

Italy, 1960s

This is unusual vintage filmstrip stereoscope was invented by Malini Severino for Kora SRL under patents DE1289330B & GB1105833A. The filmstrip is inside of a removable cartridge and is advanced by turning the knobs on the bottom. There are shutters covering each lens that will only open (with an oddly satisfying “click”) when the stereo pair is correctly in place. The film cartridge that came with this one has 16 color images that have faded to magenta. It’s titled “Dory and the Lollipop” and while the images on it are not nudes, they’re not for kids!

Korafilm 35 Cartridge

Here’s an example of a separately-sold stereo film cartridge for the Stereokora 35 viewer. The subject of this one — seven color scenes of Italian beaches — is much more kid-friendly.
