Simda Stereo Viewer

France, 1950s

The lovely & elusive "deluxe" Simda stereo viewer and the rare "baby" pocket Simda with its snazzy adjustable metal eyepieces. Both are accessories to the 1950s Simda Panorascope stereo camera and are made to view the special cardboard Panorascope slides, which are in panorama format and have 4 views per card.

Pocket Simda

This small, “steal-the-light” version of the Simda is scarce. According to the Panorascope camera manual, this is the viewer that was included with the camera. This one in our collection has metal eyepieces that screw on, allowing for individual focusing for each eye. The version shown in the Panorascope manual doesn’t have them, and the few others we’ve come across don’t have them.

De Luxe Simda - Ivory Button

The De Luxe Simda was an accessory that had to be purchased separately. It has battery-operated lighting, adjustable focus, and variable interpupillary distance.
