W. W. Rouch Stereoscope | Magic Stereoscope
England, 1860s
What a beauty! With its boxy body and trumpet-shaped eyepieces, this mahogany stereoscope was of the “magic stereoscope” style popular in the 1850-60s. The big box shape was first registered in 1854 by George Knight in the Cosmorama stereoscope and the trumpet-shaped eyepieces patented in 1856 by George Cooke and used in Negretti & Zambra’s Magic Stereoscope.
