Photax

United Kingdom, 1960s

The Photax stereo viewer is a bakelite, battery-operated, Realist-format viewer that’s difficult to find in the United States. It has twin achromatic lenses, spring tension rack and pinion focusing, and full interocular adjustment. It’s said to be one of the better Realist-format stereo viewers in terms of quality. We like the fancy, all-caps font of the logo on the viewer. Most of the Photax viewers we’ve seen have the green trim, but we’ve also seen it with cream-colored trim.
