OXO Stereo Viewer
Japan, 1960s
"Pull my string..." You can just hear this little guy's invitation. This is the very simplistic cardboard and paper folding OXO branded viewer from the '60s. The slides below feature Belgium. The yellow set shows the marriage of Belgium's King Baudouin to Queen Fabiola in 1960, the color faded to typical magenta. However, the white set of slides, showing places to visit in Bruges, seem to have kept some color. Although OXO is a food company originating in the United Kingdom, the viewer is made in Japan which would explain why the design is so similar to the other cardboard & string viewer in my collection from Japan: the cardboard Velbon viewer. OXO is unrelated to the American kitchen utensil company by the same name.
Owla Stereo Viewer
Japan, 1960s
Similar viewer made for the Owla camera line. This one has a diffuser overlay rather a diffuser insert as in the viewer above.
