Merit Stori-Viewer
England, 1950s
If you’re familiar with 1950s American stereo viewers, both the name and design of this viewer will be familiar. The design is the same as the Craftsmen’s Guild Tri-Scope, and the name is the same as the Churchcraft Stori-Viewer.
We don’t know how Merit got the design. But just like the Tri-Scope, the viewer is used for small paper stereoviews that tell children’s stories, so it makes sense they’d want to use the name “Stori-Viewer.”
The Merit brand belonged to J & L Randall Ltd., which is the same company that owned Signalling Equipment Ltd., maker of True-View.
