Ernemann Universal Stereoscope
Germany, Early 1900s
This open-design stereoscope was manufactured by the German camera manufacturer, Ernemann. We love how multi-functional it is, accommodating both glass & paper as well as different size stereoviews. Additionally, the focus and inter-ocular are adjustable and it folds up for easy storage. The design has its limitations, though. To read about them, check out André Ruiter’s blog post on the Ernemann Universal and while you’re at it, he’s got a great post on the history of the Ernemann company.
