Dürkopp Stereoscope | NPG
Germany, 1900s
This lithographed tin stereoscope advertises Dürkopp bicycles, motorcars & sewing machines with the front of the viewer boldly proclaiming “Dürkopp wheels above all.” They were based in Bielefeld and the text on the viewer and the packaging boasts of 4,000 workers at the largest branch on the continent. Founded in the 1800s, Dürkopp & Co went through several mergers and name changes and still exists today as Dürkopp-Adler. This viewer is part of the NPG family tin advertising viewers — it doesn’t have the tiny NPG logo on the bottom but it does have the patent number.
