Diamond D Studios 3rd Dimension Magic Theatre

United States, 1930s

Imagine our excitement when coming across this early, unbranded cardboard 3D viewer from Diamond D Studios! We’d previously only known of their Colleen Moore Magic Theatre viewer which they produced and branded to advertise the famous actress’ dollhouse. The two viewers are very similar in style but this one actually has interocular adjustment which we’ve rarely seen on cardboard viewers. The condition is amazing and the color is still vibrant. Diamond D Studios operated out of the Bedford Building at 203 S. Dearborn in Chicago - an architectural beauty of a building, originally called the Owings Building, that was built in 1888 and torn down in 1940. We’d be very interested to learn how this viewer was used by the public and what films were available.
